Why I Do What I Do | The Health Sessions

When I was 13 years old, my world got turned upside down. What started as a bad case of mononucleosis (Epstein-Barr) and inflamed joints, grew into juvenile arthritis, ME/CFS and fibromyalgia. For most of my teenage years, I was exhausted, in pain and housebound. Instead of going to school, hanging with friends and having fun, I spend my days lying on the couch. It probably doesn’t need explaining how soul crushing that was.

Years later, thanks to a combination of luck and hard work, I managed to reach my own definition of recovery. I no longer fit the diagnostic criteria of either disease, but being ill for over 15 years has clearly left its marks.

What I really missed when I was ill was someone advising me how to get through the day.s Doctors and therapists will prescribe medication and exercises, but what can you do the rest of the time to support your recovery? How can you manage the pain and other symptoms better? And how do you get things – anything – done when you feel so sick? How do you stay emotionally strong?

That’s why I founded The Health Sessions. To give in-depth advice on healthy living and coping with chronic illness. To help anyone struggling to feel as happy and energetic as possible.
